RDJ Joins Captain America 3 for Potential Civil War Kickoff
It has been revealed that Robert Downey Jr. will have more than just a cameo in the next Captain America standalone movie.
Apparently Tony Stark/Iron Man will have a much larger role in that film than first expected, and many are guessing the extended role will mark the beginning of Marvel’s infamous “Civil War” thread that pitted superheroes versus superheroes. This event also led to the death of Steve Rogers, which has been touched upon in the Marvel movie universe and all but confirmed.
Those speculating on the “Civil War” thread think that Tony and Steve will be at odds after Age of Ultron because Tony will start to question his inventions, and if superheroes are actually a benefit to society. Steve on the other hand believes it’s his duty, and the duty of others with gifts to protect the innocent, so the two don’t see eye to eye, which was made clear in the first Avengers film.
Stay tuned for more details as they become available. Captain America 3 is set to hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
