Review: Thor on 3D Blu-ray
I picked up the Thor triple pack on 3D Blu-ray yesterday and checked out the 3D version of the flick on my new LG 3D TV. While watching Thor in 3D at home I realized two things: Thor is a great Marvel movie, and having 3D at home kicks major Frost Giant as*! There are many naysayers out there who will try their hardest to knock 3D technology, but I can confirm first hand that it’s worth the investment if you can even call it that.
3D at home is fairly reasonable now and doesn’t really cost an arm and a leg like many will lead you to believe. I got a great package for $1500, and while watching movies like Thor in 3D in my home theater I can only think about how awesome my decision was to go 3D. I just wish more of you poor schlubs would jump on the bandwagon, so the rest of us trend setters could get more 3D content.
Anyway, back to the 3D Thor Blu-ray package. So I watched this film for the second time last night, and as mentioned above I checked out the 3D version of the Blu-ray combo pack. I don’t believe Thor was filmed in 3D, but the effect still looked pretty awesome in the Blu-ray version of the film. I felt a great sense of depth while watching Thor, and never once did I feel like my eyes and brain were being fatigued by the technology.
Thor looked great and sounded delicious in 7.1 surround sound. That combined with the 3D truly made me feel like I was watching this film in my own private theater. For the reasonable price of $30 I feel like the Thor 3D Blu-ray package is a no brainer. Your cheap ass may not have a 3D TV, but for the marginal cost increase over the regular Blu-ray version, you might as well get the super pack just in case you decided to get off the pot in regards to 3D at home. Movies like Thor will do your 3D home theater justice, so if you’ve been needing some new 3D content to show off to your wannabe technical savvy friends, I highly suggest picking up Thor on 3D Blu-ray today! I give it an EB 9 out of 10 Buddhas. You’ve been trying every excuse in the book as to why you think you don’t need 3D at home…
