Rian Johnson talked with the L.A. Times this past weekend about Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and they managed to squeeze one little nugget of awesome out of him. They talked in-depth about the film’s opening crawl, which he wrote and struggled over for months. He talked about his process, and how watching a behind-the-scenes video for one of George’s films helped him to frame it as a quasi Haiku.
While he wouldn’t say much about what was in the crawl he did reveal one word, which is “Decimated.” Now, this could be referring to what the First Order did to the New Republic, or what the Resistance did to Starkiller Base in The Force Awakens. At least that’s my guess, so feel free to weigh in with your own below.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15, 2017.
