Samsung has just released a teaser video for their 7″ Galaxy Tab, which I’m guessing is supposed to be an iPad competitor. At 7″ it’s slightly smaller than the iPad, but it still is packing quite a punch. It’ll run Android 2.2 which is extremely exciting considering the momentum behind the OS. If it runs half as well as it does on a Phone the Tab could be a serious competitor to the Pad. Samsung’s tablet will also provide: video calling, Swype, HD movie playback, “Flash support,” GPS navigation, an e-reader, and more yet to be disclosed.
The video calling is a step up from the iPad as well as the Flash support. Notice the quotes on that piece though, so it may be spotty but at least the option is there. It seems Apple has started another trend with tablets. Those guys really do motivate other companies to jump on the technical bandwagon and play catch up. Hopefully, I’ll have 3 options to choose from next year when I inevitably go to purchase a tablet. I should have iPad 2, Google Tablet, and now the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
All three are sexy as hell, so it’ll come down to overall functionality for me. I’ll make sure to document the process when I go through it. I’m getting a chub just thinking about it. Check out the Tab teaser below and start waiting for 9/2 when the official announcement will be made in Germany. You’ve been getting ready to buy a tablet of some sort…
