During Sony’s E3 conference last night, Shenmue 3 was announced to the world. Fourteen years had passed since Ryo Hazuki’s last video game appearance, but the gaming world had not forgotten.
When Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki revealed that the he had launched a Kickstarter for Shenmue 3, internet users flocked like wildfire to the site in order to ensure that the game met its funding. With a target goal of $2,000,000, it only took Shenmue 3 a handful of hours to break Kickstarter records and ensure that one of gaming’s favorite sagas will finally get some closure.
Nine hours later, Shenmue 3 raised the $2,000,000, with no signs of slowing down. At the time of this writing, Shenmue 3’s Kickstarter has reached over $235,000,000. Since toppling its initial goal, any money earned now will go directly towards stretch goals.
Stay tuned for more Shenmue 3 updates as this crazy Kickstarter continues.
