Shoot Them in the Face – Call of Juarez: Gunslinger Trailer
If Ubisoft’s trailer for the upcoming release of Call of Juarez: Gunslinger tells us one thing, it is that there is going to be a lot of shooting in the game – specifically, shooting directed at the face. This is certainly not a bad thing, though, because the second thing the trailer tells us is that this face-shooting is going to be fun. Violence and fun, coupled with a game that doesn’t seem to take itself too seriously is almost always a recipe for success.
Gunslinger is the fourth entry in the Call of Juarez series, but is not tied to the events of the previous games. Gunslinger puts players in the spurred boots of Silas Greaves as he shares the stories of his gun-toting younger years. These stories tend to get a little fuzzy for the aging (and heavily drinking) Greaves, though. In one clip, Silas is facing off with dozens of Apache Indians, until they are promptly switched to cowboys – who attacked him ‘apache style’, according to Silas. The inconsistencies of Silas’ memories and how they affect gameplay is a unique element that, if done right, will add for some seriously great comedic moments.
Gunplay looks exceptionally well done in the trailer. The shooting animations are crisp and fluid and it seems that the guns have some serious kick to them. With multiple skill branches for different weapon types, players will be able to pick and choose from abilities that allow them to shoot more people in the face more often with more efficiency. What more could someone ask for?
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is set to be released via PSN, XBLA, and PC Digital Download May 22. Featuring different game modes, various skill trees, and unique, humorous storytelling, Gunslinger looks to be one of the most exciting and entertaining titles released this year – all at an affordable ($14.99!!) price tag. Get ready, because shooting people in the face has never looked so fun.
