Snoke’s Praetorian Guards Revealed, But His Full Past Won’t Be in ‘The Last Jedi’
EW’s latest exclusive piece on Star Wars: The Last Jedi focuses on Snoke’s personal guards, who are called Praetorian Guards and were modeled off of Samurai at Rian Johnson’s request. Although, the article has mentions a bit more about Snoke, and the fact that we will see him in person this time around after only getting a hologram version of him in The Force Awakens. Don’t get too excited though, because we’re not going to get his full backstory, but we will learn more about this evil doer and his connections to the events currently taking place in that far, far away galaxy.
Johnson told EW that, “we’ll learn exactly as much about Snoke as we need to.” He also explained that, “Similar to Rey’s parentage, Snoke is here to serve a function in the story. And a story is not a Wikipedia page. For example, in the original trilogy, we didn’t know anything about the Emperor except what Luke knew about him, that he’s the evil guy behind Vader. Then in the prequels, you knew everything about Palpatine because his rise to power was the story.”
I can get behind this, but I’m dying to know more about his deep-dark past, and not so much about his current history. All I know is that I love a great sci-fi mystery, and Snoke’s identity coupled with Rey’s parentage is more than enough to keep me foaming at the mouth for this film’s release.
Bring it on December we are ready for The Last Jedi!
