Today Lucasfilm released the in-home version trailer for the home release of Solo: A Star Wars Story. The movie will hit digital platforms with a 4K UHD and HD offerings on September 14, and it will release in Blu-ray on September 25.
If you haven’t made the full switch to digital the time is now thanks to the Movies Anywhere service, which allows you to watch most of your collections across various platforms such as Vudu, iTunes, and FandangoNOW. Plus, the trend of films hitting digital earlier than physical is only gaining momentum, and these days the digital version seemingly drops a full 2-3 weeks before the physical, so it’s becoming harder and harder to put off the switch. I made the switch at the start of 2018 and haven’t looked back. It’s nice to not have to worry about adding extra clutter to an already overloaded mancave, which is another reason why I gave up on discs. Sure they’re something you can hold and touch, but they sure do take up a ton of space, especially if you have a large library like I did.
Anyway, that’s my two cents, I have said that I will probably still buy any collector’s or limited edition releases of Star Wars movies on disc, but I haven’t had to do that yet with The Last Jedi, so I’ve stuck to my digital mantra so far this year.
You can check out a trailer for the Solo home release above. You can also pre-order the digital version from Amazon today, and if you have Movies Anywhere it should sync to your other connected accounts.
