Sony’s Killzone 2 Going 3D: Who cares?

Like I’ve been saying, 2010 has become the year of 3D.  I can’t go a day without seeing 3d updates in regards to gaming, TV, and movies.  Well it seems Sony has confirmed that its hit, Killzone 2, will be getting the 3D treatment.  My first reaction to this was, “Really, that game is a year old, why not release the technology on your next big private label launch?”, but what do I know.

I look at it as another way to bilk your fan base.  Now Sony isn’t the only company that does this.  Think back to my discussion on how gadget companies release better versions of their gear within months of the initial launch.  It’s just a cheap way to make more profit on your loyal fan base.

Oh well, I don’t think many gamers will be going 3D quite yet.  To accomplish your home 3D environment you have to make a heavy investment in fledgling 3D TV technology, which will probably be released in a better format next year, and buy some new HDMI 1.4 cables.  I’m guessing that’s going to run you 3K minimum, so it kind of prices out your typical gamer.  This 3D phenomena is taking off at a pace I couldn’t even predict, I apologize for my failures.

You’ve been enlightened…
