By Jupiter’s c*ck, this is the best news I’ve heard in regards to the entertainment industry in a long time. For you Spartacus fans, you may remeber an article I did a few weeks ago about a potential prequel to keep us occupied while Andy Whitfield, the actor who plays Spartacus, recovers from Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Well, it has been confirmed that a 6 episode prequel has begun pre-production. The Gods favor us!
Supposedly Andy is taking to the treatment, so hopefully he will be able to come back and film the actual second season of “Spartacus: Blood and Sand”, but I’ll take the mini-prequel as a filler in the mean time. This prequel will focus on the rise of the House of Batiatus, and will take place before the famous Thracian became a slave at the ludus.
There is no name for this 6 part prequel yet, but filming will begin this summer for a January 2011 release on Starz. I’m guessing it’ll focus on Crixsus, and his bid to become the Champion of Capua. If you haven’t watched the show you have no idea what I’m talking about, but that’s your bad.
I’ve told you repeatedly to watch this show. “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” is one of the single best works of art ever displayed on the boob tube. Check it out immediately. It should be on Starz on-demand, their Internet site, and the Netflix instant queue. You’ve been graced by the Gods…
