Star Wars: Battlefront Gameplay is Hot(h)

After spending the entirety of their press conference telling attendees and remote viewers that the show would conclude with Star Wars: Battlefront, EA definitely delivered with some excellent footage of the newest entry into the venerable franchise.

Captured from the PlayStation 4 version of the game, this gameplay demo takes place during the battle of Hoth and looks at the battle from both sides of the fray. With stunning visuals thanks to the latest version of EA’s Frosbite engine, the demo is truly a spectacle to behold and looks to be exactly the kind of chaotic glory that one would expect from a Battlefront game.

The gunplay also looks impressive and tight, thanks to the efforts of DICE. It would appear that they’ve brought their first person shooter expertise – honed over the years with the Battlefield franchise – to the table, and the shooting mechanics look solid.

For those who were wary of the game’s lack of vehicles, the E3 2015 demo does a lot to allay those fears, featuring moments of player-controlled AT-AT, A-Wing, and TIE Fighter action serving as highlights.

Additionally, franchise heroes make an appearance in the gameplay demo, with Darth Vader slaying a soldier with a Force choke, and a brief glimpse into what it’s going to be like to deflect blasters as Luke Skywalker.

Star Wars: Battlefront releases on November 17, 2015.
