The cast for Star Wars: Episode VII added two more big names by adding Luptia Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie. Nyong’o is best known for her Academy Award winning performance in 12 Years a Slave, and Christie is known to many as Brienne of Tarth from Game of Thrones. They will join an already swelling cast of new and old faces including John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow, plus Star Wars mainstays Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker. There is no indication yet as to what roles these two will be playing.
To add even more Episode VII awesomeness, the first photos of the set in Abu Dhabi were leaked by TMZ. The gallery features a few looks at the set plus a look at a giant creature that was apparently used in a few scenes at a Tatooine marketplace. If these photos are any indication, it looks like director J.J. Abrams is opting for a more practical method of effects by using physical creatures instead of relying on CG.
