Star Wars Game For Kinect Scheduled to Land Holiday 2011

Kudo Tsunoda, creative director for Kinect at Microsoft, has confirmed in a talk with BBC’s Newsbeat that the Star Wars game for Kinect is till under development, but should be ready for gamers to play next Holiday season.  His official statement went like this:

“We have a Kinect Star Wars game coming out for next holiday [Christmas 2011],” Tsunoda said when questioned about Kinect’s lineup for next year. “I think you could just easily imagine being a Jedi and using Kinect to make you feel you’re part of a Star Wars experience, building yourself up into a Jedi. I’ve seen a bunch of the game and it’s super compelling.”

I hope he’s right!  I think being a Jedi is a perfect use for the Kinect.  I already feel like a Jedi just using the Kinect to interface with my Xbox, so the thought of actually getting to throw some force around and wield a lightsaber is a fanboy’s wet dream.  There was a shady demo for the Kinect Star Wars game that debuted at E3, which many people thought was scripted.  Even if it was scripted I think the idea is solid, so hopefully with time the MS team can get it fine tuned to work with their awesome new technology.  For an idea of what a Star Wars game may look like on the Kinect take a look at the vid below.  You’ve been dying to use the force Luke…
