In this episode of Star Wars Time, Nick and myself break down the Digital HD release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which hit digital platforms on March 13th. I’ve already reviewed the home release, and found it to be an amazing value at $19.99 for the UHD version on Vudu, and after talking with Nick, I can again confirm that my review score is spot on. This home release is packed full of intriguing content, and has pretty much everything a Star Wars fan and cinemaphile could want.
We start out by discussing our favorite bonus items on the home release for The Last Jedi. There are plenty of featurettes, as well as a feature length documentary for the production of the film, so it was easy for us to gush about our favorite bonus items. We also share how a few of them provide deeper insights into Rian Johnson’s thoughts on Luke, as well as his relationship with Mark Hamill, so if you had questions about Johnson’s handling of Skywalker, then you may at least get his reasons for doing what he did through these behind-the-scenes looks at the film.
The conversation concludes by talking about our favorite deleted scenes. We actually picked a few scenes we feel should have been left in the final film, and give reasons why they should have been left in. Of course, we also talk about shorter deleted scenes that we would have liked to have seen, but felt their absence really didn’t hurt the film in the least. Finally, we talk about the scenes we’re glad got cut, or at least trimmed down, because there is one in particular that got whittled down for the betterment of Star Wars fans around the galaxy.
