Star Wars Time: ‘The Mandalorian’ Deep Dive, Ep. IX’s Big Acts, and Bots Hate ‘TLJ’
In the latest episode of our Star Wars Time podcast, Nick and I cover a wide range of topics from the franchise due to us skipping a recording session last week. We cover everything from Star Wars Resistance to Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian, so tune in and take a journey with us through the latest round of interesting Star Wars news items.
The conversation starts with Star Wars Resistance, namely about its characters and main plot. Thanks to a final preview, the show’s narrative became much clearer, so we discuss how we think things will play out over its first season. The show is actually out now, so some of our conversation is dated, but still worth a listen.
We then move on to the revelation that Russian social media bots helped to contribute to the social media hate that The Last Jedi received. They targeted the more divisive fan debates to ratchet up the discord, and also heavily targeted the movie’s director, Rian Johnson. I sorta predicted this a few shows back, which is why we bring it up.
We also talk about Dom Monaghan’s revelation that Star Wars: Episode IX will have massive second and third acts. He talked about them in an interview, but didn’t reveal anything at all, so Nick and I put on our speculation hats and tried to predict what could make these two acts such spectacles.
The newly announced Vader Immortal VR experience also popped up during our discussion, which we both want to check out in 2019.
Finally, we spend a good portion of the episode riffing on The Mandalorian, which was revealed to be the title of Jon Favreau’s live-action Star Wars TV show. We of course try to predict what the show may be about, and we also picked apart a few of the set pic leaks that have sprung up.
