SteelSeries had a few new things to show off this year at PAX East, and they were all noteworthy. The new Arctis 3, 5, and 7 headsets are all great in their own way, and all designed about the same but with slightly upgraded features for each iteration. Every Arctis headset is compatible with the new headbands that SteelSeries has released, and I must say from using them: they are a game-changer.
The inspiration came from ski goggles and the headbands that most of them use to stay on your head. Rather than having the headset set right on your head with cups that you have to individually adjust, the band is what sits on your head, and it’s really comfortable! The headband feels just like what you’d find on a pair of ski goggles. It really alleviates the weight of the headset.
The Ski goggle bands come in all kinds of different colors and patterns, so everyone can find one that suits them. The headsets themselves are fantastic, crystal clear audio, retractable microphones (very nice), and all the shiny lights that everyone wants. The Arctis headsets are great for everyone because they come in three flavors, which are $80, $100, and $150 respectively. The most expensive one is wireless, but thanks to that ski goggle headband it feels no heavier than either of the wired headsets.
