This is as real as it’s going to get when it comes to Mario appearing in the real world. How can this be, though? It’s all made possible with augmented reality. Fusing technology with the real world is just one step on how technology is ever advancing. A few years ago, Microsoft showed off what playing Minecraft with Hololens was like.

What happens when you take Hololens and Super Mario Bros. and put them together? Super Mario Bros. in real life. Abhishek Singh made this all possible creating the first level of Super Mario Bros. in Unity3D for Microsoft Hololens. Singh played through the level in Central Park. In the video above, you’ll see some folks are really confused by what they are seeing. What they don’t know is that they are in the game, but not really a part of the game.

This is pretty awesome to watch, so take time out of your day to check it out.
