Take a Gander at the First Official Image and Video Leak of Joaquin Phoenix on the ‘Joker’ Set

It appears that the Todd Phillips directed Joker movie, which stars Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck, who is a comedian that will eventually become Batman’s mortal enemy in the Joker, has started filming. Not only did the director release an official headshot of Phoenix as Fleck/Joker, but a few fans recorded some stills and video of the actor doing his thing on set.

As you can see below, it appears as if Arthur Fleck has a run in with a clown, which he appears to be mocking for one reason or another, and I’m sure the scene will somehow play into his own transformation into the Clown Prince. The plot of the film will focus on Arthur’s transformation into the Joker by showing how a few bad turns in life can make or break a man. Just like Batman, the Joker will be the result of an event that affects Fleck in such a way that he decides to go down a very dark path instead of taking the hero route like Bruce Wayne.

I will say that I’m interested in this movie, but with all things DC cinematic universe, I’ll go in with low expectations and hope to be blown away. I’m also not a huge fan of the same universe rotating in different actors to play big roles either, so this Joker movie is really just another example of how poorly thought out DC’s long-term plans were for the live-action cinematic universe. The Joker has already be recast from Jared Leto to Phoenix, and there are heavy rumors that both Affleck and Cavill will be leaving their capes at home, so like I said the turnover for major roles is already concerning.

All we can do is wait and hope for another DC success like Wonder Woman. We will find out if the Joker movie is any good around this time next year, because it’s slated to debut in theaters on October 4, 2019.
