Good old Ron Howard, the Director of the still untitled Han Solo film, may have revealed Thandie Newton’s role in the film with one of his Twitter shares. Over the weekend he shared a picture of himself and Newton from the film’s set, which she had to return to for a few pickup shots. If you look at his right hand it is purposefully covering an insignia on her shoulder, and if you’re a Star Wars fan, you may notice which faction the logo belongs to.

If you don’t recognize the symbol, it’s the Imperial insignia, so we can speculate that Thandie is playing a character from the Empire. You could also make a case that she’s wearing Imperial garb as a disguise too foil the Empire too, so the mystery surround her character remains strong. I still think Thandie could be playing Sana Starros (Solo) from the rebooted Star Wars comics, who was in leagues with Han and even married him for some sort of scheme. So I think that this shot is of her in disguise.
Only time will tell, so stay tuned for more information as it becomes available. At this time the untitled Han Solo movie is still set for a May 2018 release.
