Thank the Maker – Official Sphero BB-8 App-Controlled Robot Unveiled

What started as a fan customization project back in April has now come full swing as a realized product thanks to the reveal that Sphero has created an officially licensed BB-8 App-Enabled robot. Unfortunately at this time an official release date and pre-order information is non-existent, but you can sign up to be alerted about BB-8’s Sphero ball release on the official website.

The BB-8 Sphero ball will have 60-minutes of battery life with a 30m range. The galaxy’s second coolest robot (R2 still takes the cake for me, for now at least) will also adapt to its experiences and form a personality based on your interactions with it. He can even record holographic messages for you to be played through the app’s AR viewer.

I’ve grabbed a few images of this charming little bot that you can check out below. You can also see him in action above via the announce video, which will make you fall in love with this little dude as if it were a real organic being.

If you want to know the exact moment when this robot will be available for purchase makes sure to register on the Sphero website.
