The Bureau: XCOM Declassified Gets a Release Date and Trailer

2K Games has finally pulled the covers back on The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, which is a prequel game based on the fantastic XCOM strategy franchise. Unlike previous games in this franchise this will be a purely third person based game. It will still employ the power of player choice and the resulting consequences, but it won’t play out like a true turn based strategy game. The game’s plot will be set in the 60’s and will serve as an introduction to how XCOM formed in the first place.

I’m a newcomer to the series, and the only game I’ve played is XCOM: Enemy Unknown, but based on that experience I have high hopes for The Bureau. 2K has released a new live-action trailer for the game, which you can view below. It doesn’t offer any gameplay, but it does a good job setting the stage for this stylized period piece type of game. I’ve also embedded some new screenshots of the the game for your viewing pleasure. The Bureau: XCOM Declassified will be available on August 20th in the U.S., and August 23rd in the EU.

After you soak all of the new assets in let us know if this is a game that you’re looking forward to playing by dropping a comment down below. You’ve been thinking this game may piss off XCOM traditionalists…
