With the Xcom 2‘s new expansion War of the Chosen, it brings a new character class the Templar for us to break down for you! First off the Templars are led by Geist, one of the original Psionic soldiers. The Templar stayed away from ADVENT and their city centers after the fall of the XCOM project, and during that time they developed an almost regligious zeal for collecting Psionic energy. Along with that also came experimenting on themselves, and and they even created weaponry that taps into their Psionic abilities. As ADVENT and the Chosen Warlock begin to draw Psionic energy from the planet, the Templar rise to put a stop to it.
This class is best suited for close range combat either wielding autopistols or their deadly and recognizable Psionic blades. Though deadly as they may be, this comes from the use of focus, a combat mechanic that builds when a target is taken out. The more focus a templar has, the stronger their attacks can be. Volt for instance will hit a single target, but with more focus banked up, it can chain hitting multiple enemies. With focus an experienced templar can also double their combat strength in an instant by using the ability ghost which creates a copy of the templar that retains all of it’s skills. With all this power on their side, they’re definitely a force to be reckoned with!
The expansion War of the Chosen for XCOM2 releases on August 29th, for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC! Pick it up and join the fight!
