One of my readers sent me a clip of a CFL game, which highlights why the CFL is a home for NFL flunkies. This clip also showcases how the Canadians have created a bastardized version of our beloved American Football game. To even comprehend how this play is legal you’ll have to read through some of the CFL rules. I guess there’s a whole lot more to the kicking game than we are used to seeing in this country. This fact leads to the clusterf*ck of a play you’ll see in the clip. It’s just ridiculous looking, and seems like the Canadians didn’t know what sport they wanted to adopt, rugby or football. Rule 3, Section 2, Article 4: (paraphrased) If a field goal attempt misses, the kicking team can score one point if it recovers the ball in its own end zone or if the ball goes out of the back of the end zone.
Rule 1, Section 3: (paraphrased) A field goal attempt stays alive if it is touched by a member of the opposing team.
Rule 5, Section 1, Article 6: (paraphrased) An eligible player may kick the ball at any time to advance it to the other team.
