This ‘Rivalry’ Star Wars Battlefront 2 Trailer Is Gaming’s Best Ever Live-Action Spot

EA and DICE have released a live-action trailer for Star Wars Battlefront II, and you should definitely stop rolling your eyes over the thought of it. I’ll be the first one to admit that I get worn out on trailers for big games like this months before the actual game drops, but there’s just something nostalgically awesome about this spot.

It follows to Star Wars fans from their childhood through adulthood, and pits them against each other because one is a Light Side Force fan, while the other supports the Dark Side. The two exchange pranks throughout life, constantly reminding the other about their affinity for the good guys or bad guys. Their feud comes to a head in the game itself, which they both obviously play as adults. At which point they both morph into the game and go to battle, but it’s not the in-game ending that makes this spot so awesome.

I chalk it up to my own Star Wars fandom, which started 36 years ago when I was barely old enough to talk. I guess seeing two kids loving Star Wars the same way I did, and channeling their favorite characters to play as in their own life just hit a chord with me and reminded me of my own past. I just really enjoyed this commercial, and it made me forget about the game itself — probably not the best marketing effect — while I reminisced along with the two kids as they went back and forth screwing with each other in the only ways die hard Star Wars fans can.

Head on up above to check it out and let us know if you felt anything similar to what I did when I first watched it.

Star Wars Battlefront II is set to release on November 17th, but it will release on the 14th for those with Elite Edition pre-orders.
