Todd Phillips, who is directing the Joker origin movie, has released another official look at the titular character being played by Joaquin Phoenix, and this time it’s a video.
Last week Phillips shared the first official image of Phoenix as Arthur Fleck, who will eventually become the Joker in the movie of the same name, but today he shared a video. The video is of a camera test featuring Phoenix standing still as images of a clown are splashed across his face until the camera pulls right up to him, at which time you can see him in full on clown make-up.
If this is what his Joker will look like, I’d say it’s a mashup of the clown mask Heath Ledger’s Joker wears at the beginning of The Dark Night during the bank heist, and Ledger’s actual Joker makeup. He’s got the long green hair, but instead of the dark black eyes and janky scarred smile, Phoenix’s Joker looks to have a more traditional clown makeup application. Who knows, this could be the beginning of his transformation, so his final appearance could be a bit more insane looking.
Check out the video for yourself below.
The Joker movie is set to hit theaters next fall.
