Depending on your age, the first trailer for A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, which is a film about Fred Rogers and his magical TV show that impacted the lives of thousands of kids and people during its run, will make you get a bit worked up inside. In a happy sad way that is, like the good tears kind.
The film stars Tom Hanks as Fred Rogers, and the casting couldn’t have been more perfect. He looks and feels like Mister Rogers, and you can feel the essence of the man exuding from Hanks in each scene. It really is an emotional trailer, but it’s not like it’s overly sad or anything, it’s just heavy. If you watched the show as a kid then it’ll definitely level you a bit, but I’m not sure if it’s due to nostalgia, or due to the fact that the world on a daily basis seems like a tire fire these days, so seeing a good man do great things kinda makes you miss the simpler times.
The movie is slated to hit theaters this November, so head on up above and warm your heart with a look at Tom Hanks as Fred Rogers.
About A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood
Tom Hanks portrays Mister Rogers in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, a timely story of kindness triumphing over cynicism, based on the true story of a real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod. After a jaded magazine writer (Emmy winner Matthew Rhys) is assigned a profile of Fred Rogers, he overcomes his skepticism, learning about empathy, kindness, and decency from America’s most beloved neighbor.
