As 2016 is upon us, many of us are already trying to picture what this new year will look like. It’s a given fact that 2016 will most certainly be an amazing year for movies. 2016 will bring us flicks such as: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Captain America: Civil War, Suicide Squad, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and tons more.
But what about games? Well, as far as PlayStation exclusives go, 2016 is going to kick ass!
Here are the top 4 PS4 exclusives that I seriously can not wait for in no particular order:
1) Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
A Thief’s End marks the end to the Uncharted series, and its launch will be a bittersweet moment for us all. Developers, Naughty Dog, are one of the select few companies that I have faith will deliver wholeheartedly. The footage that surfaced from this past year’s E3 has done nothing but make me more anxious. When the developers pushed back the release date even farther, my first reaction was: “WTF”, but quite honestly, I respect the fact that Naughty Dog decided it wasn’t perfect for release yet. Seeing that the Uncharted series is one of my favorites, I wouldn’t want anything short of amazing to release. Plus, according to Nolan North (a.k.a. Mr. Nathan Drake), A Thief’s End will end the franchise on a ‘high’ note.
2) Horizon: Zero Dawn
When I first saw the trailer for this game at E3, I was blown away. Initially, I thought it looked much like Assassin’s Creed. As the trailer went on, I changed my mind: this game is some sort of perfect hybrid between Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Fallout. It’s seemingly taking everything I love from those franchises, and meshing it all together. This third-person, open-world game takes place after the fall of civilization. When you typically think of post-apocalyptic games, you immediately think Fallout. When you try and picture something new, you simply think of a barren wasteland. Well, that is one of the reasons I’m so excited for H:ZD, it’s not following that ‘norm’.
When watching gameplay, the world you’re surrounded in is encompassed with lush greenery as far as the eye can see; quite the opposite of a desolate wasteland. From articles I’ve read, developers from both The Witcher and The Elder Scrolls are collaborating on this promising title. In addition, Fallout: New Vegas writer, John Gonzalez, is supposedly writing up the script. So, yeah. This game looks freaking great.
3) No Man’s Sky
Let me first explain to you that the developers of No Man’s Sky, Hello Games, has less than 10 employees. For them to have created a game as massive and promising as this one, completely dumfounds me. No Man’s Sky is interesting, to say at the very least. On the surface, it’s a space exploration game, where your main objective is to survive. But at its core, it’s a vibrant, living, breathing, universe that offers players (seemingly) infinite possibilities. Players can visit any place, as far as the eye can see. If you can see it, you can visit it. Watch the climate change as you draw farther/nearer to the Sun. Every single aspect of this game is unique: creatures, formations, planets, you name it; there are no two things alike. On your journey throughout the galaxy, players will mine, craft, and trade their way to becoming the next greatest space explorer. This is a hype train I’m definitely on board with.
4) The Last Guardian
If you’re one for a touching story, and a serious emotional investment, then The Last Guardian is for you. Originally due to release in 2011 for the PS3, this title captures the audience through a special bond between a little boy and his ‘pet’. A boy, who has been captured ‘under mysterious circumstances’, befriends this Griffin-esque creature, and sets out to escape. Seeing that the story is such a strong aspect of the game, not a whole lot has been shown of The Last Guardian. As long as I can see that it exists and is real, I’m not complaining whatsoever.
No, this list isn’t in any particular order. But I can say that I am super freaking excited about each and every game featured on this list. Again, this is only my opinion. But what PS4 exclusives are you guys looking forward to? Any that weren’t on my list? Let us know in the comments below!
