My very first assignment at my very first convention was Toto Temple Deluxe, and holy hell this game is fun.

Juicy Beast is a pretty new developer, but you’d never know it based on how well it plays. The game has a pretty basic goal, hang onto the goat longer than everyone else. Think Oddball from Halo, but with goats instead of skulls, and somewhat psychotic looking mayan idols instead of Spartans. I played a round with 3 other players including our very own Raymond Porreca, and actually managed to come out in first place, which was not the end of my journey.

You then go on to one more challenge, which is basically a game of cat-and-mouse, but either you, or the CPU controlled bot can be the cat OR mouse. An exploding goat is put into play and after you pick it up, it explodes after a few seconds, and you have to keep your enemy in the radius without letting him knock it out of your hands. I only ever saw one person manage to beat the bonus round, and when someone did, every spectator got a free steam code for the game, which is pretty frickin awesome!

The fact that the game supports four players offline makes it especially attractive to me, because I don’t think there’s been enough local 4-player games lately, aside from Smash Bros. and Mario Kart. Definitely be on the lookout for Toto Temple Deluxe on Steam, Xbox One, Wii U, and PS4, it’s simple fun that anyone can jump in and play and enjoy!

You can check it out in action after the break. Head over to the game’s official website for more details.
