It seems Michael Bay’s ‘Transformer 3’ may be going through some issues regarding the 3D process. Supposedly, most of the 3D footage that was shot with a 3D camera may not be usable because of Bay’s filming style. This has resulted in the alleged story that most of ‘Transformer 3’s’ 3D scenes having to be re-done in a post-shoot process similar to ‘The Last Airbender’. A confidential source told IESB why they felt that the 3D process didn’t work well for Bay in a scathing statement:
“The 3-D looks like shit and we don’t know if we will be able to use all of it the way it is… Avatar set the standard very high for 3-D films and even though some of the best people in the 3-D business were brought aboard for TF3 but with Michael’s quick, aggressive style of shooting without any real past experience has caused hiccups.”
It seems to me that maybe all of the stories you hear about Michael Bay could be true. I’ve always heard that he was an a*s on set. Look at what happened to Megan Fox when she basically called him a d*ck!? Pink slips anyone? The anonymous source who leaked this news may be getting some official corroboration from the film’s DP Vincent Pace who was quoted as saying to Moviefone that the film will indeed use both 3D camera footage and the post-production process of creating 3D scenes.
This 3D-gate has made its way to Mr. Bay himself who posted the following statement on his own site in regards to the matter.
“Wow, I read these morons on the internet who think they are in the know. “We have have problems with our 3D????” Really? Come into my edit room and I will show you beautiful 3D. There has never been a live action show that has pushed the boundaries of 3D like Transformers 3. We shot the entire movie with 3D cameras. I actually loved shooting in 3D. I will give full details of my process and why I liked 3D in the next week right before the Transformers announcement piece comes out on Tron and Narnia.”
Who really knows how this will all play out, but at least Bay confirmed that the Transformers 3 teaser will air before the Narnia movie and the Tron sequel. Hopefully they’ll include a 3D version of the trailer for us fans to see if it’s going to look like poop or not. Freaking 3D! You’ve been nearly hit with some mud flinging over 3D in a movie…
