September 30th has been officially named as the release date for Transformers: Dark of the Moon on Blu-ray/DVD. Unfortunately, for those who have been early adopters of 3D TV’s this version of the film will not be in the 3rd dimension. According to Michael Bay, the film’s director, the 3D version will take longer so he can get it perfect for home viewing.
“For fans who can’t wait, the Blu-ray release in September will deliver an awesome ride with the movie in stunning 1080p high definition and a 7.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack that was personally overseen by our phenomenal supervising sound mixer just for the Blu-ray, As you know, we put a lot of effort into the 3D experience for the theatrical release and I want to make sure we get it right for home viewing—and that process takes time. So stay tuned for an even more incredible release that will include the film on Blu-ray 3D and loads of bonus features.” – Michael Bay
I guess you can’t fault him for trying to do the 3D version justice for home viewing. I’ve just been itching for more 3D action on my new LG 3D HDTV, so I’m kind of bummed that I’ll have to wait on this robot eye f*ck for a few more months. I guess I’ll have to watch Wild Ocean on Direct TV’s 3D channels for the 10th time. At least Thor will be in 3D next week, I hope. You’ve been thinking that it’s gonna be an expensive Fall for 3D TV owners…
