Transformers are an amazing phenomena. You have a franchise that became wildly successful, yet it started ass backwards. Typically with other great sci-fi universes the story comes before the product line, but not in the Transformers case. The whole Transformer fad came from the toys that Hasbro launched back in the early 80’s, and then the cartoon and a wealth of other spin-offs such as the movies and videogames followed.
Say what you want about the movies, you either hate them or love them, but I can guarantee you haven’t played a Transformers game that you love. With the next Transformers game, Transformers: War for Cybertron, which is due out in a few months, we may have our first good Transformers game. I haven’t really read what this game will be all about, but after watching the video below detailing the game’s multiplayer component I’m starting to have more interest.
I love the fact that you can customize your own Transformer and how fluid the transformations are from robot to machine. It also looks like there will be classes to choose from in the multiplayer arena, a la Battlefield or Team Fortress. The pace looks quite frenetic and could make for some intense on-line combat. After watching this I’d like to see some more on the actual single player portion. Check it out for yourself below and let us know what you think.
You’ve been transformed…
