Paul Neurath and his team were able to wrestle the rights of the Ultima series away from EA, and are now working on a spiritual successor to the classic series called Underworld Ascendant.

The two decade old series has influenced many games that feature rich and dynamic 3D worlds, such as Skyrim, Bioshock and Deus Ex. On top of this, Neurath has formed a veteran team at Otherside Entertainment which include developers that had previously worked on titles such as System Shock, Thief, Bioshock Infinite, Deus Ex, and many more.

The Kickstarter campaign for Underworld Ascendant has just launched, and has already gained $200,000 of the $600,000 pledge goal. Numerous stretch goals, such as Mac and Linux support, companion creatures, co-op and a ‘world builder’ have also been announced.
