Video: Check Out the New Features of OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion

Apple has officially announced their next major Mac OS revision in OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion today.  Now while developers can get their hands on it now, the rest of us can only read about Mountain Lion’s new features, as well as watch some of them in action via the video embedded below.  It’s quite clear that Mountain Lion was created to bring even more of the feature from iOS that Lion first introduced to Mac users last Summer.  Once the upgrade is officially rolled out users will be able to use Messages, Notifications, Reminders, and other features that were released in iOS 5.0.1.

If you aren’t a developer the only new feature from Mountain Lion that you can play with now is the new Messages app, which will replace your iChat client.  You can download the BETA version today and begin using the new Messages app immediately.  If you’ve been using iMessage on the iPhone and/or the iPad then you’ll immediately see the similarities in the Mac Messages app.

For now us non-devs can only watch the Mountain Lion preview demo below, but it should be available later this Summer in the Mac App Store.  For the official details on Mountain Lion you can read the press release here.  You’ve been digging the Mac OS X updates…
