The end of quarter 1 in early April has gamers waiting for hot new release for all platforms. Some of the most talked-about games due out in the next few weeks offer familiar faces in new titles.
Resident Evil 6 (Windows) – The latest Resident Evil game offers three different yet interwoven storylines for cooperative or solo play, making this a very ambitious release. Fight the C-virus, battle zombies who can now run and jump or try the popular mercenary mode. Play through the first three missions to unlock the game’s femme fatale, Ada Wong.
Dead or Alive 5 (PS Vita) – The Vita release of the DOA franchise brings the MMA-style street fighting to the handheld console. Battle through visually striking backgrounds that interact with the fighters; position your enemy in the wrong place to use the gaming environment to your advantage. The Vita’s intuitive controls and motion sensor allow you to play as a first-person fighter; easy swipes and taps let you deliver powerful attacks on opponents.
Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon (Nintendo 3DS) – Armed with a ghost-catching vacuum cleanser, clumsy Luigi must explore five dark mansions full of spirits. Solve puzzle challenges to unlock secret passages; trade cash and treasures for ghost-hunting gadgets that will help Luigi on his way.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity (Nintendo 3DS) – The latest release of the Pokemon franchise features the familiar favorites from past releases with new 3D graphics and brilliant use of color that make this release unique. Work through 20 dungeons populated with Pokemon; battle them and some may offer to join your team. Scan each game world with the 3DS’s camera to uncover hidden passages. The game offers cooperative play for up to four gamers; each can choose their preferred Pokemon character.
BioShock Infinite (PS3, Xbox360, Windows) – Fly through the sky as Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, sent to rescue Elizabeth, a young girl who can alter time and space with her powers. Use Vigors, powers that course through your body to attack enemies, to unleash a murder of crows or red-hot fireballs upon your enemies. The secret “1999 mode” lets players access a hardcore gamers’ challenge. The fast-paced action sequences benefit from plasma TV.
Pandora’s Tower (Wii) – Play as Aeron and fight through Thirteen Towers to rescue the beautiful Elena and reverse her transformation into a hideous beast. Get stuck midway through a level and Elena will turn uglier; nurture your bond at the end of a level and help undo her transformation. As you strengthen your bond through gameplay, secure a more hopeful ending for Elena and Aeron.
Aliens: Colonial Marines (WiiU) – Fans of the classic SciFi movie Aliens may want to purchase the video game sequel to the movie. Play as a colonial marine sent to wipe out the alien invasion and see all of the types of Aliens you know and love from the movie. Customize your avatar, weapons and other elements of gameplay. Work cooperatively with up to three other players who can join for the entire game or complete select missions with you.
These are just some of the new releases that have gamers hyped on quarter 1 releases. Mark your calendars and count down to release date.
