December 16, 2014 is the official release date for the upcoming online space simulation game, Elite: Dangerous by Frontier Developments.

The launch trailer shown above features no in-game footage, but does show off the gorgeous ships available to pilots, and chaotic combat in a cinematic format.

For those that are interested in Elite: Dangerous, the game offers a 1:1 scale of the Milky Way Galaxy, with over 400 billion star systems. The ability to trade, bounty hunt, explore, mine, pirate and become a mercenary, plus everything in between. These are all paths you as the player can freely choose throughout your career as a space pilot.

Elite: Dangerous will be exiting its ‘Gamma phase’ in to full release on Tuesday 16th December for Windows PC. The OS X version is scheduled for release in three months time.
