Lead Designer of XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Jake Solomon, sat down with legendary game programmer and designer Sid Meier at Firaxicon and discussed Sid’s legacy, from his days at college, all the way in to his professional game making career.

Discussing his rise to success, alongside friend and business partner Bill Stealey, Sid highlights how the industry has changed over the past three decades. Sid also deliberates what went right with the simulation and strategy games he created that made them so successful to audiences worldwide, from small technical aspects, to large overarching themes.

The interview is an hour long, but is very interesting, especially to those that are game developers, or game enthusiasts in general. Firaxis Games next title is Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth, coming October 24th for PC.
