Watch the New Star Wars Trailer Wreak Havoc on Matthew McConaughey’s Emotions

Star Wars fans around the globe were glowing with excitement and other raw emotions yesterday thanks to the release of a new teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Fan reaction has been overly positive, and the trailer has already been dissected to pieces to try and make sense out of the overarching narrative that will be present in the film. Depending on your love of the Star Wars franchise you may have experienced a litany of emotions yesterday while watching the trailer. I myself experienced moments of pure bliss and excitement, effectively waking my dormant fanboyism, which has been in a state of hibernation for the past 10 years due to the less than stellar prequel films. I even teared up a bit reflecting on the importance of the franchise to my childhood and the bond I formed with my Father over it, so the emotional power of the new Star Wars trailer is as strong as Anakin’s connection to the Force.

I’m not the only Star Wars fan who got emotional over the trailer though. In fact, Matthew McConaughey’s reaction embodies the power of the new trailer and its effects on those who watch it perfectly. He doesn’t hold back one bit as he watches every moment of the trailer, which puts him through the ringer emotionally.

This could be one of the greatest video mashups of all-time people, or maybe I’m just slap happy, but watching Matt’s character from Interstellar experience the new Star Wars trailer is easily one of the funniest things I’ve seen in 2015 on the Internet. Everything about it is perfect, the cuts are spot on, so it really does look like Matt is watching the trailer and crumbling to pieces while doing so. Check it out above and have a solid laugh to brighten up your day!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens on December 18, 2015.
