Watch Tom Cruise Do a Halo Jump For Real in New Mission Impossible: Fallout Featurette

Say what you will about Tom Cruise, but one thing you can’t say is that he sucks at making action movies and doing stunts. Out of all the big celebs at his level of fame, he’s probably that only actor that nearly kills himself for each role he takes on by doing almost every stunt by himself. Basically, if the studio can insure him, he will do whatever insane stunt the script calls for, and I’m guessing he’d still do the stunts even if the studio would let him without being insured. This guy has jumped down the sides of buildings, and even hung on the outside of an airplane as it took off, so his inner daredevil is strong.

While those stunts were impressive and death defying, his latest may be one of his most ballsy. For Mission Impossible: Fallout, Tom was tasked with pulling off a Halo jump, which means he jumped from a height of 25,000 – 30,000 feet without opening his parachute until the last minute. To get the shot right he had to pull off over 100 jumps for just 3-minutes of footage, but as the video shows, it appears he and the crew pull it off. Head on up above to see Tom being Badass Tom in his latest turn as Ethan Hunt.
