The doldrums of the summer video game release window continue on this week, but there are at least a few games coming out that will hopefully be worth your time and money. The two big releases are Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, and Valiant Hearts: The Great War, both of which will release for multiple platforms. In addition to those titles there are a plethora of re-releases for new platforms, and a few other niche releases.

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma and XBLAZE Code: Embryo are both getting Vita releases, and the latter is also coming out for PS3. Z-Run is also releasing for the Vita, while R.B.I. Baseball is finally coming to the Xbox One and PS4. GRID: Autosport is coming out this week for the 360 and PS3, Resogun Heroes is coming out for the PS4, Deadpool Pinball for Zen Pinball 2 is releasing for the PS3, and Shovel Knight is releasing for the Wii U.

The PC scenes is getting a heavy helping of games, which is highlighted by PvZ: Garden Warfare, Company of Heroes 2: The Western Front Armies, and Quest for Infamy. Three Dead Zed and McDroid are also coming out for the PC platform this week.

Our Recommendation

The previous Transformers games that have been rooted in Cybertron lore haven’t been bad at all, so Rise of the Dark Spark should be a decent title to pick up this week if you’re completely bored with your back log. The true gem this week should be Valiant Hearts: The Great War, which is a stylized tale about World War I that will surely tug at your heart strings.
