September, as a month, was certainly kind to gamers. Of course, the mega-hit Grand Theft Auto V wow millions when it hit shelves in the middle of the month and became one of the most talked about (and played) games of all time. September also brought us Diablo III in console format, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix, and Wonderful 101. September’s batch was an eclectic mix for sure, but a great one at that.

Now that the final day of the ninth month is upon us, gamers the world over have October’s releases to look forward to.  This first week of October brings good news to niche JRPG fans, as the 3DS gets both Rune Factory 4 and Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl. Both handheld titles have sold very well overseas and are expected to do well when they release in North America tomorrow thanks largely due to they games’ respective cult status.

Those who aren’t JRPG inclined have slimmer picking this week, with NBA 2K14 being the most notable console release.

While this week’s releases aren’t exactly the most accessible titles for everyone – at least sports fans and JRPG addicts can rejoice. A full listing of this week’s video game releases can be found below.
