DLC reigns supreme again this week with Gears of War 3 and Star Wars: The Old Republic both getting content updates on Tuesday.  Gears 3 players can download the Fenix Rising pack, which will bolster the map offerings in its multiplayer mode, as well as adding another 250 G’s worth of achievements.  If the Xbox 360 doesn’t tickle your testicles you may be interested to know that SWTOR will be getting a game update called The Rise of the Rakghouls, which will add a few new zones to conquer to Bioware’s wildly popular MMO.  Outside of these two content updates there’s nothing worth buying this week in the video game arena.

The Blu-ray/DVD market isn’t much better.  There are absolutely no geeky movies coming out for home release this week, and the non-geeky offerings aren’t very appealing.  Just based on its Rotten Tomatoes rating I have to recommend checking out the Ides of March, but if you’re like me I’d rather watch paint dry than a movie about politics, so it’s safe to say that I’ll be passing on Ides.  If you want to buy someone you hate a gag gift you may want to consider picking up the Bucky Larson movie, which was so bad that it received a 0% rating on RT.  Looks like this is another week to hold on to your cash, but things will begin to pick up in February, so get ready to let loose that money burning a hole in your pocket.  You’ve been wishing that there were more items to waste your cash on…

Videogames to buy for the week of 1.16.12

There’s no physical games to buy this week, but you may want to invest in some DLC with the Fenix Rising pack for Gears of War 3 on the Xbox 360.  PC gamers will get some new content for SWTOR, but outside of that don’t expect any worthy additions to your gaming library.

Blu-ray/DVD’s to buy for the week of 1.16.12

If you’re into movie about real life then you may want to check out the Ides of March, which has done well with critics.  If you want to torture someone you could always buy them the Bucky Larson abortion, but you should only do that if you absolutely hate this individual, because that movie looks worse than getting water boarded.  You can click on an image below to buy either film if you’d like.
