Well geeks and gamers we’re finally hitting the time of year when quality games start coming out more often, and all of the summer blockbuster movies get released on Blu-ray.  This week offers a host of new games to play with Transformers: Fall of Cybertron leading the pack.  PC gamers can test their skills with the release of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, while 3DS owners can get their coin on in the New Super Mario Bros. 2 game.  FPS fans searching for some nostalgia can pick up Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on a variety of platforms this week that includes the 360, PS3, PC, and Mac.  Finally, MGS fans can pick up yet another HD re-release via the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater HD Edition release for the PS3.

The Blu-ray/DVD front isn’t as loaded as the video game new releases this week, but there are a few worthy titles worth looking into.  For starters, The Hunger Games came out on Saturday, and if my local Best Buy is any indication of this movie’s popularity it has sold like hot cakes.  The Dictator comes out on Tuesday with unaired content, so if you’re a fan of Sasha’s you may want to check that comedy out.  Last but not least the pre-order period for the Avatar 3D Blu-ray collection has finally surfaced, so fans of that groundbreaking epic can finally own it in 3D if they don’t have a Panasonic 3D HDTV (until now it has only been exclusive to that brand).

As always you can pick up any of these recommendations by clicking on their Amazon images below.  You’ve been ready to spend some cash on geeky gear…
