At this point the Summer of 2012 might as well be called the worst ever for new video game releases.  I can’t think of a single game that has come out over the past two months worth playing, and that trend continues this week.  Fighter fans may want to pick up Persona 4 Arena for the Xbox 360 and PS3, while rhythm game fans may want to check out Sound Shapes on the Vita.  PC gamers can finally get their hands on The Amazing Spider-Man game as well this week.

For what seems like the 6th week in a row there isn’t a single geeky movie hitting store shelves this week.  Grimm‘s first season releases this week on Blu-ray, so that may be a worthwhile adventure considering that the show got picked up for another season.  I tried to watch it last year, but for some reason the show never resonated with me.  Although, I’m seriously considering giving it another try knowing that it was watched by enough geeks to warrant a season 2.  As always you can pick up any of these recommendations by clicking on their Amazon images below.  You’ve been playing free games on the PS3 during these dog days of summer video game releases…

Video games to buy for the week of 8.6.12

Without a doubt TASM is well worth a purchase for PC gamers.  We played it on the 360 and loved it, so I can recommend it without hesitaiton to you PC lovers.  Fighting game fans may want to check out Persona 4, and gamers on the go should check out Sound Shapes for the Vita, which has recently been surrounded by some positive buzz.

Blu-ray/DVDs to buy for the week of 8.3.12

Another week of meh!  If you like fantasy based series you may want to check out the 1st season of Grimm, but everything else this week stinks.  Although, I did miss the original Total Recall being released on Blu-ray last week, so I’m adding it to this week’s list of possible purchases.
