What Movie Buffs Want For The Week of 6-30-14

This week is another slow week for new Blu-Ray/DVD releases. The Legend of Kora Book Two: Spirits is out and follows Kora in her quest to becoming a better avatar. She sets out to go to the Southern Water Tribe to gain more knowledge about spirits, but Republic City comes under attack and it is up to her to stop them.

This week in new theater releases is slow as well. The Fourth of July holiday is when most studios release big budget films, but not this year. This week there is Earth to Echo and Deliver us From Evil. Earth to Echo is about a group of kids that find an alien, and it will be up to them to help Echo find a way home. Deliver us From Evil is based on true events from Detective Ralph Sarchie’s case file. Ralph Sarchie is an officer with the NYPD and when he starts investigating a series of unexplainable crimes he reaches out to a priest to help solve them.

Our Recommendation

Pick up The Legend of Kora Book Two: Spirits and get caught up before watching book three, which is currently airing on Nickelodeon on Fridays. This season Kora is starting to get back to normal after last season’s events, and as everything starts to settle down there’s a new threat that will stop at nothing to defeat the avatar.

This weeks theater new releases are slim pickings. This would be a good time to get caught up on previous releases as there isn’t anything really appealing being released this week. If you don’t feel like being patriotic then check out Deliver us From Evil. If you’re looking to spend some time with the kids, then Earth to Echo might be worth checking out.

Devoted a piece of her skin to a Destiny tattoo and has a long term plan of cosplayjng as a Bioshock Splicer or Warlock at some point. Her prized possession is an autograph from Robert Englund welcoming her to prime time.
