What’s Going On With Kojima and Konami?
The video gaming world is abuzz with questions and speculation regarding the current state of affairs between Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain creator Hideo Kojima and publisher Konami.
It seems that there have been some changes over at the Konami camp, with Kojima’s name no longer appearing on The Phantom Pain‘s artwork. IGN.com reported on the series of strange events, noting that in addition to the disappearance of Kojima’s name, Kojima Productions and its Los Angeles location have been rebranded as ‘Konami Los Angeles’.
It seems that Konami have been vague in their statements regarding the shakeup, commenting to IGN.com that “…we are shifiting our production to a headquarters-controlled system,” and that “Konami Digital Entertainment (including Mr. Kojima) will continue to support and develop Metal Gear products.”
At the moment, it seems that there is no real word as to what the statement means. Kojima has recently expressed his thoughts on Metal Gear Solid V, stating that he believes it is the end of the series.
As the situation continues to evolve, Entertainment Buddha will be providing close coverage of the events going forward. Stay tuned for updates.
