Yoku’s Island Express Review
Yoku has arrived on Mokumana and he’s ready for the easy life, soaking up the sun and delivering parcels on a tropical paradise! However, an ancient Island deity is trapped in a restless sleep – and it’s all down to Yoku to traverse the island using a unique blend of pinball mechanics, platforming and open world exploration, in an amazing adventure to help those in need! Flip and bump our pint-sized protagonist around the stunning hand-painted island on your quest to rebuild the post-office, and wake an old god from its deep slumber. Yoku’s Island Express is an open-world pinball adventure and offers non-linear gameplay that gives the player the freedom to choose their own path across many adventurous quest-lines!
Yoku’s Island Express was a joy to play. The chill little dung beetle, Yoku is absolutely adorable rolling his way through each beautifully hand-painted level. The pinball aspect of the game makes it unique and honestly very satisfying and addictive. Players travel to beaches, jungles, caves and even snowy mountain tops meeting and helping the friendly locals along the way!
The exploration is definitely one of the biggest pros to Yoku’s Island Express. The world is packed with stuff to find including secret rooms, chests full of upgrades and quite a few side quests. Besides the actual main-line story, there is so much more for the player to do and explore! Along with the beautiful hand-painted levels, adorable dung beetle, and fun pinball action, Yoku’s Island Express has an incredible soundtrack. The island music, complete with steel drums and ukulele, makes you want to plan your next vacation ASAP.
I absolutely enjoyed playing Yoku’s Island Express from beginning to end! The story line kept me interested and, hey, who doesn’t enjoy playing as an adorable dung beetle?! This game could put a smile on anyone of any age and any skill-level. Yoku’s Island Express has a great aesthetic and it’s just a pleasant world to be in.
