While you have been smashing through levels in the latest shooter or action RPG, Playtonic Games has been working on its brand new game which is sure to make fans of classic 3D platformers incredibly happy. The style of game Yooka-Laylee presents seems to have taken a massive downturn over the years in favor of more realistic cinematic experiences, but as Yooka-Laylee has proved, not everyone wants to forget the past.

Taking place in a bright and colorful world, players will take direct control over both Yooka the chameleon and Laylee the bat as they traverse vibrant and exciting environments reminiscent of those from fantastic titles such as Banjo-Kazooie. Which as you might have guessed, was a main inspiration for Yooka-Laylee. Banjo-Kazooie is more than just inspiration for the game though, it is also a kind of unofficial spiritual successor to the series. It even features some of the team behind the original game working on it, who just so happen to have some pretty fantastic credentials behind them.

Yooka-Layee hopes to bring back the charm from way back when, and if all we have seen so far on the title manages to work out then it is safe to say gamers have something very exciting to look forward to. The project smashed its goal in mere hours, but you can back your coin into Yooka-Laylee and support the title further at the following link.

Be sure to also take a look at some of the early gameplay shown above.
